We got word yesterday that the government adoption officials have reviewed our financial documents and agreed to grant us a referral for adoption. It is uncertain how many children they will allow but we rest in the yes and leave the details to God. Of course, they have to see our official documents and reserve the right to refuse at that time but this preliminary critique was positive!! Our dossier submission appointment is February 15, so today and tomorrow are devoted to a couple of last signatures, loads of signing and notarizing, authenticating and apostilling…and then off to FedEx with hopes of arrival on Monday…whee!!
We’ve lots to do to be ready for the day of departure, which will come very quickly. But we do well under pressure and love the challenge of a big project, so we should be happy campers for the coming month.
To each of you who have prayed each step of this journey, thank you. Our prayer during the many months of delays was that God was using that time to prepare our hearts and the children’s hearts. That continues to be our prayer and now we’ve added strength and focus to be prepared to welcome them home.
I am amazed watching how God is moving in the area of adoption…He is calling Christians’ in masses to care for the fatherless as He does. In recent weeks, since our waiting one has become ill, He has softened my heart to the least of these little ones who are so defenseless. He brought this blog to my google reader and I will never be the same.
Doors are opening miraculously for abandoned and formerly considered hopeless and useless young children to be adopted into loving families. Yesterday was an incredible day on this front…God softened the heart of one in control. It was a huge victory. We pray for God to send more families to these precious children. For several of them, money has been given, the cost for adoption is nearly completely covered…all they need is a Mommy and Daddy.
If you would like to know more about adoption, I’d love to talk with you. I should have a doctorate in the US side of the process after 17 months of total immersion, but am no pro on the in-country experience yet. I have a wealth of friends coast to coast who have walked this path from beginning to end and share this passion that would love to talk with you. Email me at FollowHisCall at gmail dot com
