In the early months after our call to adoption the Lord brought people into our lives in a steady stream that were “the fleece” of confirmation that this call was from the Lord.
One of them is a beautiful young lady from the same city as our sibling group. Her parents still live there and she lives here in Louisville with her young family. She works for a ministry that serves street children in her native city. In that first conversation, as we talked about the reality of adoption of older children, she finally said in that beautiful Russian accent, “Marie, we just say, “Here Am I Lord, Send Me!!!!!” That summed it up…that was it and still is. All He is asking from us is willingness to go…to be sent.
We are more than willing and we are ready. Very ready. There is a peace today, 24 hours prior to takeoff that the time is right. Indescribable. The anticipation is huge. We know He has gone before us and made the way. And we follow joyfully. It will not be easy, rescuing children from the fowler’s snare is going into the belly of the beast. Satan hates Love most of all. When we take love and hope into that place and into the hearts of these children we will face fierce opposition. But Love always prevails.
Today’s prayers are simple and there are two.
Discernment…we need it poured out beyond measure over us and the children.
Thy will be done… With credit to my new Idaho friend that God sent this week, who even shares my passion for the Mitford series by Jan Karon, as Father Tim says, “the prayer that never fails.” That is our only desire, His will. To be honest, we really do not have one in this. We were not looking for it. It is too big for us, and we feel very inadequate for the task. So humbly we pray that His will be done…nothing more, nothing less, nothing else.
We love you all and thank you for your love, support and encouragement. We cannot do this alone. We are all in this together. God Bless and we will keep you posted.
