God WON!! 4 New Longs!!

God fought looooong and hard to free these 4 amazing young people but today He won the biggest battle of the war.  Our court went well and the adoption of all four was granted.

Meet the newest Long’s…

Nicole Xenya, Pavlina Alisa, Alex Stone and Vanya Philip

Barney, Alex (Sasha), Marie, Nicole, Pavlina and Vanya in Front

They each had to step to a podium face to face with the judge and answer several questions.  We were so proud of each of them.  They all did great and were so confident in their decision.  We were so appreciative that the judge was gentle and kind to them.  It was a long process of over 2 hours of waiting for a paper to be faxed from Kiev and then the over one hour court proceeding so we were all drained, but so happy!!

We enjoyed celebrating at our favorite pizza place and then stopping by a market for ice cream treats on our walk back.  These four are a puzzle perfectly fit together by God, it is amazing how He orchestrated this for nearly two years to this perfect end.

~ Our Awesome Foursome ~

Today is a busy one but I will write a post soon with the details of our court proceeding for those who follow in this journey.

To each of you who have prayed, emailed, commented, loved on us, cared for things at home, and so much more, we love you and are all so grateful for your love.  As Sasha said about Grandmommy last night on skype, “I think she is ready to be able to touch us.”  Yes!!, she and we agreed enthusiastically.  We are all ready to get home to lots of hugs and the end of saying goodbye each day and the beginning of being a family 24/7/365.

Tomorrow will be 11 weeks since we boarded that plane in Louisville full of anticipation but so aware that this was not about us and so much bigger than we could imagine.  It has been the journey of a lifetime.  We’ve seen God work beyond anything we could ask or imagine in so many ways.  Our deep relationships with our new friends at DCU will impact us for life.

Our dear friend leaves early Tuesday morning for Russia…he is rejoicing with us at God’s miracle in our adoption and we are praying together without ceasing for what God is going to do in his new ministry.  It is amazing to walk these two journeys together, different calls from God but so similar with the common bond of the unknown and walking in faith along the razor sharp edge of a cliff for so long.  It has forged a bond we will share into eternity.

We have a 10 day wait, then 3-4 days getting new birth certificates, tax ID numbers and passports.  Then we travel to Kiev for two days of meetings at the US Embassy for their visas and a medical exam for each of them.  If all goes according to schedule, which you have likely figured out by now does not exist, Lord willing, 3 weeks from today we’ll be on our way home with two full rows on that airplane.

To God Be the Glory, great things He has done!!!!!!

I am Grandmommy`s friend from Sunday School class. The one who met Marie in Louisvillle for lunch right before you left. Remember?

Oh! Wow! Yea! I have followed this journey…along with countless others…for a good five months now!!! Words don`t express my gratitude for where you are now. This beautiful, beautiful family. I have seen Grandmommy`s pictures, but somehow all of you look different now in this family photo. Maybe that`s the difference. You look like a family!!!! I told Grandmommy that I would help her with the books if that`s what you and she want. I`ve done four of a different type and it would be fun for me. If you think you want this, keep collecting pictures, etc. of their heritage there in Ukraine. This could be pictures of where they live, school, friends, parks, landmarks. Anything that will enable them to reminisce about their past. It will be easy to pick up here in their new home. This can be such a treasure for them when they are older.

My thoughts and prayers have been and are immersed in all seven of you. As you have said all along, “God surely has orchestrated all of this.” That has to be reassuring as you all step out into the treacherous waters ahead. We must pray even harder in the days ahead. I know you will enjoy the true bonding that can now take place in the three weeks ahead. God bless! Sarah

Sarah, Of course I remember!! You are so dear to journey with us. And you are very insightful that now is when we must pray most fervently. Due to the difficulties and uncertainties we have kept the bonding as shallow as is possible due to the possibility that this could totally end. In the past week, since our trip to Kiev for Sasha’s referral and the certainty that the judge would approve the adoption, the level of intensity in bonding has exponentially increased. It is going to be an awesome three weeks and it is great to be able to say to them, “when we get home…” We had been very cautious with those words.

Satan will not give up on his pursuit of these four young people. He prowls as a roaring lion seeking to kill and destroy and their adoption into our family only intensifies his battle. We cherish your prayers all the more in the months and years ahead as we wage the battle to bring them from darkness into the marvelous light. It will be a treacherous path but we will fight to the finish for them to know Jesus.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love and support to Mom. I know this has not been easy for those at home. It has been long and seemed endless at times but in 3 weeks we should all have a hug and be together. That is a sweet thought!!

    Marie,

I just wanted you to know that I have thought of you often and prayed for your family but didn’t know all of the details of your adoption. I hadn’t seen your blog until you posted it on the HFHG loop today. I have been blessed today to spend a large part of my day reading your blog and the amazing journey God has brought you on! I started with your first post in January and have read straight through. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with all of us. I am so thrilled that these four children are finally yours!

Prayers and Blessings on your sweet family!
    Shanna Clark

    • Us says:

      Shanna,
Thank you for your prayers. It has been a very different journey than we ever envisioned but God has used it beyond anything we could have imagined. This is not a typical Ukraine adoption, 4 teens and 3+ continuous months in country have made this extraordinary. God is so faithful and these kids are awesome. We were able to worship together as a family for the first time yesterday and it was amazing. I’ve followed the birth of your newest little one and loved your photos on facebook. Many prayers for a wonderful summer for you and we look forward to getting home and seeing you again soon!!

  12. Alice and John Curry says:

We are so happy for you all, and hope your trip back comes sooner than you think!! Know you are ready to start getting your new family settled in!!
